Social Media Co-Lead and Treasurer
Eltisha is our social media co-lead. She is currently working on her Graduate degree in the field of Criminology at the University of Ontario Institute of Technology. Her current research interests are the impacts of gun violence in socially deprived communities. She is employed as a Teaching Assistant at UOIT as well as an Integrated Resource Officer with TD Canada Trust. She hopes to bring awareness to right wing extremism and engage the community in countering anti-immigration rhetoric.
Project & Media Outreach Lead
Madison is our project and media outreach lead. She holds a B.A. in Criminology and Political Science from the University of Toronto and is currently completing her Masters of Criminology at UOIT. Her research focuses on the safety of women in resource extraction communities. She is a statistics Teaching Assistant and also works in the Federal Government’s Student Work Program where she is involved with welcoming immigrants and refugees to Canada.
Kishale is our content lead. She has had passion for writing ever since her poem was selected to be in a children’s poetry book in grade 3. She holds a B.A. in Criminology and Justice from UOIT and is currently pursuing her Masters degree in Criminology at UOIT. Her research focus is on the interplay of African American Culture, Parenting Styles & the instances of cyberbullying experienced by African American teenage girls who ‘Sext’. She currently works for UOIT as a Teaching Assistant, and also works with at-risk-youth.
Social Media Co-Lead
Ana is our co-head of social media. She is currently a candidate for the Master of Arts in Criminology at UOIT. She has a background in counselling psychology. Research topics of interest include feminist theory, governmentality, intersectionality between criminology and law. At the moment she is a research assistant at UOIT. As an immigrant herself, she understands the difficulties anti- immigration hate speech can cause and wants to spread awareness about the issues impacting immigrants in Canada.
Esther is our head of research. She holds a BA in Sociology from York University and a Juris Doctor from Osgoode Hall Law School. Before pursuing her Master’s in Criminology at UOIT, she practiced family law and civil litigation. Esther also holds a post-graduate certificate in certified Mediation-Alternative Dispute Resolution.
