“When my family immigrated to Canada some of the hardships we faced was employment.”

I have heard anti-immigration hate speech, when Donald Trump got elected there were number of people who came forward and shared their thoughts about anti-immigration and how immigrants are ruining “their” country.

When my family immigrated to Canada some of the hardships we faced was employment. My father is highly educated and qualified back home in Pakistan and when he came to Canada he had to takes jobs such as throwing paper to people’s house or working a factory just to make ends meet for our family. Despite my parents being so well educated the education was not recognized. for many years he tried hard and then finally found a good job in Saudi Arabia. now he works there and it sucks because it still impacts us as a family because we have to live far away from our father.

When we became citizens and were able to see many people who were multicultural and sharing their culture with us and our surround was people of various backgrounds.
