“Because of my grandmother I am able to go to school, live in the city and so on.”
Mainly through the media. The only time I’ve witnessed or experienced it (anti-immigration hate speech) was through conversations with other people who believe that immigrants are the cause for the high prices of homes in toronto.
My grandmother came to Canada on her own from Jamaica. After working here and saving her money she was able to get her 8 children here. During the time she was working here one of her children passed away suddenly, she wasnt able to go back to go to her funeral because if she left the country she wouldn’t have been able to come back.
Because of my grandmother I am able to go to school, live in the city and so on.
I think my grandmother felt like Canada was home was when she was able to get all her children here. Knowing that her sacrifices were worth it was a great feeling.
